Last weeks big news!

Monday, I officially became part of Splitcoastampers “Dirty Dozen”, I can’t even begin to tell  you what an honor it is.  In case you aren’t familiar with the “Dirty Dozen” there are always twelve stampers on the design team for Splitcoaststampers.  Every month two retire and become alumni, and two new designers are chosen.  Each designer is on the team for a six month term.  Our work for Splitcoaststampers can only be seen if you are a fan club member.  Trust me, it is so worth it, not only do you get to see the designs each month, you also are the first to see the challenges plus lot’s more.  More importantly by signing up as a member, you are supporting the best stamping site on the internet.

So, since my designs are for fan club members only, I can’t post them on my blog.   I have been pretty busy lately with designing for SCS.  I promise though that I will start updating my blog with more frequency.

Happy Thanksgiving

Here is a quick card I made for Canadian Thanksgiving, our family is all up there and to be honest, I prefer when Canadian Thanksgiving falls.  Here in the United States, the leaves are gone and it’s just to close to Christmas.

For this card, I used Gorgeous Gourds from the 2017 Holiday Catalog.  This set is a 2 step set and I just love the way it stamps.  I used the Woodland embossing folder for the background layer.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Snowy Street Lamp

Winter seems so far away when you are living in South East Florida, but it’ll be here before we know it.

For today’s card I used a new set from the Holiday Mini, Brightly Lit Christmas.  I decided not to get the coordinating Lamppost Thinlits dies.  But they would have made this card easier to make if I could have just put the lamppost on top of the bricks instead of trying to go around the post.  I decided to make the bricks Early Espresso.  Bad decision, they turned out looking a little to dark for me. Solution, white EP and heat set it, it toned down the dark bricks.  I added a bit of embossing paste on top of the flag and the lamp.   The snowbank is torn cardstock embossing paste and dazzling diamonds.  It was fun to pull them out, haven’t used them in ages.

Just another 12 days until you can get your hands on this set.  I know I am looking forward to seeing all of your wonderful creations.

Good Tidings Sneak Peek

The challenge at   Splitcoaststampers   today is to put a bow on it.  I thought, okay that’s easy, now where to start.  I looked down at my craft table and saw that I had the new Stampin’ Up set from the Holiday mini Good Tidings.  This set will be available September 1st.  Anyway, then I had to come up with a layout.   Freshly Made Sketches

has this sketch for their challenge this week so I thought okay, that’ll work.  So I had a layout, stamp set picked and now what to do.  The biggest challenge I had was the sentiment.  I could have picked Merry Christmas or something from another set but I wanted to use just the set on my desk.  Good Tidings wouldn’t fit across and it didn’t look good using the whole sentiment so this is what I came up with.

Stamps Good Tidings

Ink Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Black,Versamark

Ribbon Shimmer Black AC

Throw back Thursday

Todays challenge at Splitcoaststampers is to find something in your house as your inspiration.  It just proves that we all have things around us that can inspire us.  I chose this picture that a friend gave me years ago.  I have always loved it and decided to make a little card designed similarly.  The first thing I want to tell you is that Evernote has been the best thing ever for me as far as organizing/cataloging my supplies.  I had completely forgotten I had a pansy stamp similar to the one in the frame.  I searched in Evernote and there it was in my Flower Garden hostess set from years back.  The sentiment is from In the Meadow.  The gold frame around the central piece is Brushed Gold cardstock which has retired.  I added some brown sponging and then gold mettalic sponging, added gold embossing powers and got a lovely look.  To be honest, it looks much better in real life.

001As for the Title of the post, I have decided that Thursdays will be the day I post something using retired Stampin’ Up products.  To add to that Stampin’ Up has just added lot’s of items to the Clearance bin.  Head over to my store on the right hand side bar and have a look.  I picked up a couple of things and am looking forward to making some fun things with them.  If you see something you want, don’t forget to grab it fast, they usually don’t last long at these prices.

Fall is coming

This was made012 for the color challenge this week over at Splitcoaststampers.  The colors are Fresh Fig, one of the new In Colors from Stampin’ Up, Daffodil Delight and Wild Wasabi.  The desert was sequins.  I started by using my Patterned Party decorative mask brick pattern and turned it sideways, sponged fresh fig onto it and then used my embossing paste to fill in the bricks. Doing it this way colors the paste without having to color the paste directly and risk wasting some of this wonderful stuff.  The whole card uses the Colorful Seasons Bundle which to me is the most versatile bundle in the whole catalog this year.  The leaves were all die cut and sponged and the sentiment was stamped and then cut out with an oval stitched die.  I felt it needed anchoring so I sponged daffodil delight around the edges.   If you haven’t purchased this Bundle it’s a must have, every season is covered and you can’t go wrong with that.

Mom’s 87th

This card was made for my moth001ers up coming 87th Birthday.  The color challenge over at splitcoaststampers this week was So Saffron, Berry Burst and Pear Pizzazz.   Flowers were dessert.  I used the stamp set Birthday Blooms, heat embossing in white and then watercoloring it with the the colors from the challenge and my aqua painter.  I fussy cut the flowers out and omitted a few leaves. The white layer is from the new Card Front Builder die set from Stampin’ Up and after die cutting it out I stamped the sentiment  and then added dimensional’s  to the  flowers adhered it and then added my card base in So Saffron.

Oh and that awesome die cut layer is a new bundle in the Holiday Mini.  It is called Carols for Christmas and it’s available now so you can get a head start on your Christmas Cards.

FS548 Welcome Retirement

After fiddling all day yesterday with setting up my new blog, I knew that today I needed to stamp!  After all that’s what I love.  First stop, Splitcoastampers Featured Stamper challenge  D. Daisy has a wonderful gallery and that’s where I saw this card,

I really liked her color combination and layout, especially how she used two DSP patterns, and also the great masculine feel.  Many stampers find masculine cards a challenge so I decided to do one.  Right away I thought of the Wood Textures DSP pack and my new Seasonal Layers Thinlets and that awesome Adirondack chair.  I think this card would be fantastic for the guy who’s looking to do more woodworking after he retires.  What do you think?

Beautiful You

Dec10Xmas 003This card was made back in the winter, but I decided it would be my first post on my new blog.  Beautiful You caught my attention right away, it is a similar style to a few older Stampin’ Up sets that I will never part with, Seaside Sketches and Summer by the Sea.  This is probably my most pinned card to date.  Don’t  you just want to color it yourself.
